The program

  • The Lions Club is a habits-first program. We teach effective and sustainable lifestyle and training habits that build independence and keeps you on track to your goals. We have 10 Habits that our athletes follow every week, and we practice a healthy mindset around goals and training. These habits revolve around Eating, Sleeping, Training, and Preparedness.

Our Team Values are - Hard Work, Be Kind, Have Fun, Give Others Energy, and Celebrate Your Wins. We maintain a strong team culture with these values and make them a daily practice.

  • Each week, athletes participate in 7-12 hours of training per week at Gifford Fitness. Each athlete is prescribed their own training schedule, mixed between Lions Club sessions, Weightlifting, Barbell Club, Speed and Agility, GiffyFit classes, 1:1 appointments and Open Gym. They get coached, we set goals, and we set them up for the long term. Big results don’t happen overnight.

  • All Lions Club athletes participate in our Professional Development program, which we run every year. This consists of Workshop Series styled learning developing a personal statement, learning about college, obtaining letters of recommendation, writing a resume, collecting and organizing personal training stats (every athlete builds an Athlete Resume for college recruiting).

*These are led and advised by an expert in the field, a professor with over 20 years experience in higher education at R1 schools who has worked closely with college admissions and university, national and international scholarships

WEIGHTLIFTING

A young woman lifts a barbell with blue and black weights during a workout at a gym.

Weightlifting classes build power and strength.

Training sessions focus on barbell and dumbbell movements - this is our most popular program for in-season training. Learn weightlifting techniques and exercises that will carry athletes from beginners to high-level college-bound athletes.

This program develops power, prevents and rehabs injuries, increases joint stability, and teaches strength that transfers directly to sport. All athletes start with a lightweight PVC pipe and build up to a barbell. All sessions begin with a coach-led warmup, primer, and technique work.

*The Lions Club has built National Qualifiers, National Medalists and State record holders with USA Weightlifting through our training

GIFFYFIT

Five women participate in a group workout on bikes at a gym.

In GiffyFit (aka GPP) you will build high levels of endurance, stamina, strength, and athleticism.

This is our most popular off-season training program. It will teach you new skills and push your physical and mental limits. If you want to increase your overall fitness in the most effective and efficient way possible, this is it.

When you play multiple sports and multiple positions, a broad base of overall fitness matters!

SPEED AND AGILITY

Build coordination and fast-twitch muscle strength to sprint faster and quickly change directions.

To build speed and explosiveness, we use weightlifting, plyometrics, agility work, sprint mechanics, and high-intensity interval training.

Our Speed and Agility program uses laser speed gates for sprint, agility and vertical testing. These laser systems are accurate within 0.001 seconds for precise feedback and reliability, and also have a video display option. These scores are suitable for the needs of college coaches.

My daughter Ava Roberts has been training at Gifford Fitness under the guidance of Coach Nick for three years. In that time she has grown both physically and mentally. The physical growth includes increases in the following: strength, power, agility, and speed (bat speed and foot speed). Her self confidence has grown to the point where she has become a leader on both her club and high school softball teams. Coach Nick has taught Ava to be dedicated and work hard to achieve her goals. The result is an athlete who is self assured and one who holds herself to a higher standard.

Ava has also developed lifelong friendships with her training partners at Gifford Fitness. They encourage each other and push each other through their fitness plateaus. Through Gifford Fitness training she has not only become stronger, she has also become a better person who shows empathy towards others.

Coach Nick has been a tremendous role model who promotes and advocates for his athletes. I would highly recommend Gifford Fitness and The Lions Club to any high school athlete looking to become stronger to improve their athletic performance.
