Athlete Highlight: Ava Roberts

Two and a half years ago, Ava walked into Gifford Fitness as a Freshman infielder who hadn’t yet found her potential as a power athlete.

Fast-forward to the present day. Ava, who once blended in with the crowd, is now a strong, confident, and strikingly powerful young athlete. She is, in fact, one of, if not the, strongest athletes we have at the gym.

Dust flys behind Ava as she runs bases

Standing in the crowd on the sidelines of the game where these pictures were taken, Coachg Nick overheard someone say “man, we LOVE when Ava comes up to bat”… and right after that, Ava cracked a hard drive right past shortstop. The ball flew by before they even had a chance to react!

Through consistent Weightlifting, Speed, and Conditioning training as part of our GiffyFit Teens Elite Training program, Ava has truly taken herself on and developed into quite the high-level athlete.

She has broken onto the Varsity squad at her school (who are defending state champs! So that is very hard to do!), she’s batting .548 over 42 AB this season, and has climbed her way onto not just one, but TEN record boards at our gym, and she’s razor close to an eleventh. Here are some of her *very* impressive stats:

  • 185 lb Clean

  • 150 lb Bench

  • 180 lb Jerk

  • 215 lb Front Squat

  • 265 lb Deadlift

High-level athletes are built through persistence, discipline, grit, hard work, and consistency. A Championship Mindset is developed through overcoming the constant fires of adversity and hard training. Ava has shown that she is willing to put in the work to reach her goals, showing up to the gym at 6 a.m. before school to train (with a 45+ minute round trip) and staying late to 8:30 p.m. on a regular basis.

Ava's stands at a squat rack with her back to the camera. she wears a blue shirt with the word "BELIEVE" on the back. There are two four blue plates on the bar.

This is what it takes. Ava is a leading example of what committing to training can do for a person. This is very hard to do. It is called commitment for a reason! Ava knows this and gives herself fully to the process and trusts her coaches - we are all very proud of her.

We’re excited to watch you grow and pursue your dreams, Ava. Cheers to you!
