Meet Dave Wille: “Never Give Up.”

At Gifford Fitness, we believe strength looks different for everyone. For David Wille, strength means maintaining independence, continuing to do the things he loves, and staying committed to moving forward one workout at a time.

Dave first found Gifford Fitness through family. “My daughter has been a client at Gifford, and told me about the Legends program,” he shared. What started as a recommendation quickly became part of a larger goal. “My goal is to live long and pain-free.”

That goal continues to drive him every time he walks through the gym doors. At this stage of life, Dave says prioritizing fitness is about maintaining the ability to live independently for as long as possible. “To maintain my physical fitness to live as independently as I can.”

And the impact has been immediate and meaningful. Through consistent training, Dave says he’s noticed both physical and mental benefits. “It reduces the physical pain I have. I feel motivated to keep moving.”

One of the biggest reasons Dave continues to train is the coaching and support he receives from Fedde. “Matt pushes me to keep advancing, but safely.” That balance of challenge and smart progression has helped Dave continue pushing himself in ways he may not have expected.

When asked what a great training session looks like, Dave keeps it simple and honest. “A lot of sweat and being out of breath.”

Outside of the gym, Dave enjoys volunteering and gardening, activities that staying active allows him to continue doing. He also recognizes how important movement becomes with age. “Basic moving, I see people in my age group that can't stand up, cut the grass, or walk to the mail box.”

For Dave, strength today means freedom. “To do what I want to do.”

That mindset carries into the advice he lives by every day. “Never give up.”

Like many members at Gifford Fitness, Dave’s story is not about chasing perfection. It’s about consistency, resilience, and continuing to show up for yourself. Whether he’s training hard enough to leave a workout drenched in sweat or tackling his least favorite workout, “Fight Gone Bad,” Dave continues to prove that strength has no age limit.

And if you think you know everything about him already, there’s one thing that might surprise you. Dave started computer programming in 1970!

We’re proud to have Dave as part of the Gifford Fitness community and inspired by the example he sets every day.
